Coffee at Rocky Masters

@ Seah Street
Discovered this place walking around the National Library area. This faces directly opposite the National Library at the corner of Seah Street (nearby landmark includes Raffles hotel, Toy Museum, Bras Basah Complex).

Loads of customers and upon entering, you can smell the strong coffee aroma! I tried their special - Devil's Brew while my wife tried the mocha. The coffee was strong, very creamy and great aroma! One cup costs S$4.50. We also tried the cheese cake which was equally yummy!Seems like it's also famous for pizza (next round will definitely try)

Getting there: Take MRT to Bugis and exit on North Bridge road. Walk towards National Library and you'll see it when you're nearing the Raffles Hotel.

Ice cream at Marvelous Cream

@ Ion Orchard Food Mall
Not bad, not bad! They have multiple outlets around S'pore (Somerset 313, Ion Orchard etc). Tried the Berry Macaron in a waffle (S$6.50). They basically take the ice cream and mix it with other stuff (including fresh cream). You can choose any of their numerous creations.

Getting there: Take MRT to Orchard and go to the Ion Orchard Food Hall. Alternatively go to Somerset 313. It's just next to Marche!

Coffee & Scones at Caffe Beavimo

@ Paragon Orchard
This used to be me and my wife's favourite place for breakfast on a weekend. They serve excellent sandwiches (on ciabatta bread) and their coffee are excellent. Great to find out that they've not lost their touch. This time we went during tea time, I had a Picollo Latte (S$3.50) and also raisin scones (S$2.50). The coffee was strong, creamy and bursting with caffeine (I could not sleep till late that nite!) while the scones was buttery and fragrant!

Getting there: Take MRT to Orchard. Walk along Orchard road heading towards Paragon (Tangs, Lucky Plaza then Paragon). Head to the highest floor and it's located just next to the escalators.

More food at Food for Thought

@ Opposite National Library
After a try of their coffee and dessert, this time had dinner with family! Tried the pulled slow roasted pork sandwich, chicken ceasar salad, spaghetti with snail sausages. All were super yummy! Even my son approved =).

We then indulged with 3 different desserts - durian mousse cake which was delicious, the brownie cup (served with ice cream, marshmallow and espresso) and lastly I had mocha which was also great!

Getting there: Take MRT to Bugis. Exit out to North Bridge Road and walk towards the National Library (this is just opposite it)

Desserts at Lu Gang Xiao Zhen

@ Ion Orchard
This place serves Taiwanese street snack food. Tried the eggy meat rice bowl and ma la duck. Both are ok. I prefered the desserts - chng teng and mango sago (both sold at S$3.50 per bowl).

Getting there: Take MRT to Orchard, exit to Ion Orchard. This restaurant is next to Burger King.

Ramen at Ramen Santouka

@ The Central
Another nice ramen place at The Central (this shopping mall is filled with Japanese restaurants). I had the spice miso ramen and added a soft boiled egg. Should also try the char siew which was extremely tender! Noodles are quite a lot and can be very filling. A bowl of ramen could cost you around S$12.

Getting there: Take MRT to Clark Quay and come out to The Central. This restaurant is located on the 2nd floor. Do avoid peak hours as it can be very packed (due to limited spaces)

Ice caffe latte at Dimbulah

@ Jurong Bird Park
Found a nice place to take a break after a hot walk at Jurong Bird Park. The moment you step into the Lory Loft, you'll be greeted with this cafe and the smell of strong coffee aroma. Apparently this is from Australia and while I hesitated (since am used to Italian coffee) it actually tasted very good! I tried the ice caffe latte (recommended by the barista) and it was good!

Getting there: Get to Jurong bird park and then visit the lory loft (place where you can actually feed lory birds with a mixture of nectar, water).

Ciabatta Orange Kaya Toast at Nanyang Cafe

@ Chinatown Point, Chinatown
After eluding me twice (not opened), I finally tried this cafe and was pleasantly surprised! Tried their special ciabatta toast with orange flavored kaya. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I had their version of ice coffee which was really brewed well. Goes well with their eggs as well - for entire set, paid S$5.20.

Getting there: Take MRT to Chinatown. Exit at Chinatown Point mall. Cafe located on the 2nd floor of Chinatown Point

Duck rice at Heng Ji

@ Toa Payoh Hub
Listed as one of the S'pore 100 Heritage food, they serve great roasts (duck, chicken and char siew). I had a duck drumstick and char siew. The duck was tender, with crispy skin while the char siew had nice sticky caramelized flavour to it. Definitely recommended for those who are keen for roast meat with rice. A plate of duck drumstick and char siew costs me S$9.50

Getting there: Take MRT to Toa Payoh. Walk towards Yakun Kaya toast cafe. It's opposite YaKun Kaya toast (hidden at the corner behind the front shop lots)

Coffee at Food For Thought

@ North Bridge Road
This shop was closed the first time I went. Determined I went again and was not dissapointed. A small cosy cafe, the cappucinno was excellent - strong and foamy! For just S$3.50 it was excellent! Goes well with dark brown sugar.

I also helped myself to their specialty cake - Old Southern Red Velvet - made out of cherry cocoa vanilla with lemon cream cheese! Gosh it was moist, and very sinful (definitely worth sharing). Cake costs S$5.50 per slice.
Getting there: Take a MRT to Bugis. Exit to North Bridge road and walk towards the National Library. This shop is just opposite the National Library.

Yong Tau Foo at Xu Ji Ikan Billis

@Chinatown Food Complex
Had a long long queue when I discovered this outlet. Took at least 15 minutes before I got to even see the stall. I was not dissapointed. I had kueh teow and for just S$3, you get 7 piece of yong tau foo! The fish paste was nice and the soup tasty.

The chili was also very nice and spicy! They serve this with ikan bilis which is a bit different

Getting there: Take MRT to Chinatown. Exit to Chinatown Complex and go to the 2nd floor for food.

Nasi Lemak at Qi Ji

@ Shaw House, Beach Road
Was introduced to this place by a M'sian friend. I was skeptical at first since we're talking about 2 type of food that I really am particular about - Nasi Lemak and Popiah! But I gave it a try and had the nasi lemak first. Wow! Sambal was really spicy, rice was fragrant and "lemak" and the chicken wings, crispy & full of flavor!
Thumbs up !

Then, when I saw the popiah, I was impressed as it looks like what I normally eat in Penang or Ipoh. Skin was thin (not the thick ones usually served in S'pore) and upon biting, it was heaven! Filling was moist, a bit spicy and had a crunchy filling! Amazing! I even wondered if the owner was from Malaysia =)

The nasi lemak was S$3.90 and popiah at S$1.90.

Getting there: Take a MRT to Bugis. Exit from the Cinema area and cross the street to Bugis Market. Walk to your right till you reach the end and turn left. It's a bit difficult to find =) but try asking around for Qi Ji Nasi Lemak

Durian Puff from 717 Trading

@ Bugis Junction FoodMarket
Singaporeans love their durians and you can find a plenty, different durian cousine spin offs. Had stumbled upon this stall and heard so much about the durians sold by 717 trading. So decided to try their durian puff. It was delicious and at S$4.50 for pack of 6.

Getting there: Take MRT to Bugis. Enter Bugis Junction from the exit and you'll be right at the food hall. This stall is located just near the Cold Storage.

Duck rice at Yu Kee Foodhouse

@ Liang Seah Street
Stumbled upon this corner restaurant while looking for food around Bugis area. They serve duck and kway chap (a delicacy that you would find more in Singapore). I had duck and char siew.
It was actually tasty and I loved the chili. A plate of duck rice costs S$3.50, add char siew would cost you another S$1.

Getting there:
Take MRT to Bugis. Exit to North Bridge road and look for Mos Burger. The restaurant is facing Mos Burger just opposite.

Mango sago at Chew's Dessert

@ Liang Seah Street (opposite Bugis Junction)
This is a nice place to have dessert after a meal around the area. They have both hot and cold dessert.

This time I tried the mango sago. It was really refreshing and the mangoes were really sweet. Costs S$3.50 per bowl.

Getting there: Take MRT to Bugis. Exit to North Bridge road and cross to Liang Seah St. It's just opposite Mos Burger at Bugis Junction. The entire street is filled with restaurants (steamboat, desserts)

La Mian & Pork Dumpling at Din Tai Fung

@ Wisma Atria

This is one of our favourite restaurants since it was opened in Singapore couple of years back. Their noodles (La Mian) are excellent with multiple varieties to choose from.

I love their mushroom minced meat and beef noodles. The pork chop la mian is also nice!

What they're really famous for is their Xiao Long Bao (pork dumpling). In each dumpling is minced pork meat and when steamed, it contains a delicious soup. Eat it with vinegar and young ginger. In fact, there is even an art of eating pork dumpling =)

Do also try their red bean paste dumpling as desert. Simply heaven!

Getting there: Take MRT and stop at Orchard. Walk towards Wisma Atria and go to the 2nd floor.
